The component (10) has a fiber-reinforced plastic part and a fiber (12) e.g. optical glass fiber, for guiding an electrical or electromagnetic and/or optical signal (13) such as light signal through the component. The fiber extends transverse through the component and communicates with a transmitter at an end and a receiver at another end. A processor monitors and evaluates signal received from the receiver. The transmitter comprises a light source i.e. LED, and the receiver comprises a light sensor for receiving the signals. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system for detecting a position of defect of an aircraft (2) a method for detecting a position of defect of an aircraft.
