The system (1) has a gas generator (7) and a flat side airbag (2) inflatable over window surfaces of sear rows. A tubular-shaped reinforcement device (3) extends to a lower end of the side airbag in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle. The reinforcement device is completely arranged and inflatable to the side airbag or integrally to a part of the side airbag, where the reinforcement device is manufactured from high elastic material than the side airbag. The reinforcement device is formed with an inner airbag channel. An independent claim is also included for a method for developing of a restraining system.
