The method involves conveying lubricant to a lower side of a piston (5) of an internal combustion engine (1) by spraying nozzles (11) depending on conditions of the lubricant, such that a lubricant channel (13) is formed in a cylinder crankcase (2). The lubricant channel is extended towards walls (7) of a rotary crankshaft (8), such that the lubricant discharges from the lubricant channel and is conveyed to the lower side of the piston through the walls of the rotary crankshaft during operation of the internal combustion engine.
