Substance, for the prophylaxis and/or treatment or diagnosis of age-related diseases, is claimed, where the substance: inhibits the expression and/or activity of serum and glucocorticoid dependent kinase 3 (sgK3); and is useful for detecting the expression, activity and/or gene modification of sgk3. Independent claims are included for: (1) a diagnosis kit, for diagnosis of age-related diseases, comprising at least one substance for detecting the expression, activity and/or gene modification of sgk3; and (2) a method for diagnosis of age-related diseases, where the expression, activity and/or gene modification of sgk3 for detecting in body sample of a patient with antibody against sgk3, oligonucleotide (with which specific DNA-fragments of sgk3 are amplified in PCR) and/or polynucleotide (that are hybridized with DNA or mRNA of sgk3 under stringent conditions) is detected.
