Preparing lactic acid from aqueous and acidified solution, comprises: introducing the aqueous and acidified solution on a stationary phase of a simulated moving bed chromatography equilibrated with an appropriate buffer solution; binding lactic acid in the stationary phase of the simulated moving bed chromatography; rinsing the column with a buffer solution until washing the impurities; and eluting and collecting the lactic acid from the stationary phase.
