The unit (1) has a separator (13) for fibers (10) and another separator (14) for particles (11). The separators are combined with each other into a unit, and provided for the separation of the fibers and the particles from a fiber-dust-air mixture (9) sucked from a processing machine. A housing (2) has a tangential inlet (5) for installing a vortex (8) for the fiber-dust-air mixture. A drum (3) with a surrounded filter part (7) i.e. fiber bound fleece, rotating in the housing is provided for the separation of the fibers. A device for removing the fibers retained at the filter part is provided. An independent claim is also included for a method for separating fibers and particles from fiber-dust-air mixture.
