The deflector has a rotatably arranged laser deflection mirror for deflection of a work laser beam, and a position detector i.e. lateral effect-photodiode, for detecting an angle position of the mirror. An optical referencing device (1) i.e. beam splitter-free autocollimator, determines the angle position of the mirror predetermined as a reference angle position. A control device is connected with the position detector and the referencing device and adjusts the angle position detected by the position detector with the reference angle position determined by the referencing device.
