The assembly (1) has a supply pipe (2) i.e. rail pipe, for supplying fuel e.g. petrol, under pressure. Branch pipes (3) connect the supply pipe to a fuel injector. A retainer formed in the branch pipe provides the fuel injector with a leakage pipe (36). The leakage pipe having a lateral leakage hole is connected with the branch pipe such that the hole is opened out in the retainer. The leakage pipe is inserted into a wall of the branch pipe laterally defining the retainer. A retention hole is formed complementary to an outer contour of the leakage pipe. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a rail assembly for a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle.
