The expansion bolt (1) has an expansion pin (2) and an expansion sleeve (3) in a processing position. The expansion sleeve has a hollow cross section for receiving an expansion pin and an expansion section (5). The expansion pin and the expansion sleeve are separated at a break point (4) in the processing position. The expansion pin in processing position is inserted in the expansion sleeve as in production position. An independent claim is included for a method for production of expansion bolt.
