The accumulator has a valve discharging gas from an accumulator body independent of pressure of gas in the accumulator body in response to control instruction or control process. A relief valve (10) automatically discharges the gas, when the gas pressure exceeds a predetermined gas pressure. The relief valve is moved from a basic mode, in which the relief valve is closed, to an emergency mode. The relief valve is opened in the emergency mode until the gas pressure in the accumulator body is equal to the gas pressure in an environment, into which the gas from the accumulator body is discharged.
