The method involves providing stored target pressure value to a regulation cycle before beginning of following cycle, where the stored target pressure value is formed by a pressure model or a pressure sensor. The pressure model considers wheel number of revolutions information and/or printed form initiated by a driver using pedal and/or the pressure gradient and/or valve opening times, so that the model pressure reaches close to actual wheel cylinder pressure. The stored target pressure value is corrected in dependence of estimated maximum contact force between the roadway and tires. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle brake device comprising an anti-lock braking system regulation unit.
