The arrangement (22) has a disk element (58) arranged in a housing recess (52) between fluid inlet and outlet openings (54, 56). A sealing seat (62) is formed at a wall (66) of the recess, and a central section of the disk has a sealing rim. The rim lies against the seat in a fluid-tight manner, when a pressure in a high pressure pump is below a predetermined pressure, so as to prevent fluid passage through the outlet opening. The rim is placed at a distance from the seat, when a pressure in the pump is above the predetermined pressure, so as to enable fluid passage through the outlet opening. An independent claim is also included for an injection system of internal combustion engine with an overpressure protection arrangement.
