The invention relates to a method for optimizing the accuracy of position determination and / or for reducing the integrity risk of a receiver (E) in a global navigation satellite system with a number of satellites (RF1, RF2, RF3, RF4). For at least one satellite (RF1, RF2, RF3, RF4) visible to the receiver (E), a deviation error (AF) is determined which depends on the geometric orientation of the satellite (RF1, RF2, RF3, RF4) relative to the receiver (E ) and is dependent on at least one system parameter. The deviation error (AF) is determined by an error projection into a coordinate system of the receiver (E) from a further deviation error (AF '). As a deviation error (AF), a first or a second value is used, which is the smaller of the two. The first value is determined for the at least one system parameter (SP) with a respective predetermined parameter value. The second value is determined for the at least one system parameter having a modified parameter value which is modified in relation to the predetermined parameter value in such a way that a lesser error of the modified parameter value of the at least one system parameter is assumed to be true.
