The device (2) has a support head (4) including a continuous belt (7) that is driven in a circular direction and fixed between a drive drum (5) and a drum (6). The belt simulates effects of road surface characteristics for a wheel (8) of a motor vehicle, where the wheel rolls on a road surface. The wheel rests on and is driven by the belt. The head has support drums (9) supported transverse to a longitudinal direction of the belt. The drums have grooved profiles on a peripheral surface of the drums. The profiles correspond to a grooved profile on a lower side of the belt.
