Modified polychloroprene materials comprise a polychloroprene-matrix produced by reactive conversion in melt, with modified low-molecular monomers, oligomers and/or polymers, which are chemically coupled by covalent bonds with the polychloroprene matrix. An independent claim is included for a process for the preparation of modified polychloroprene materials, comprising reacting polychloroprene in solution or in dispersion or in the melt with modified low molecular monomers, oligomers and/or polymers with reactive groups and/or (melt-) processing conditions in addition with Lewis acid compounds in situ activated groups in one or more stages in the solution, dispersion and/or melt, where the fillers, reinforcing materials and/or additives can be added.
