The method involves occasionally heating a gaseous medium and a liquid medium with a heating element (24) and a water heater, respectively. Treatment goods are heated with the heated mediums. One of the heating elements is operated with a partial delivery of maximum power of the heating elements during simultaneous operation of the heating elements, where power consumption of the heating element remains below maximum power consumption of a water-bearing household appliance e.g. dishwasher, during simultaneous operation.
