The method involves generating control pulse with target-duty cycle (AA) and temporally varying pulse width and pulse spacing. The temporally varying pulse width and pulse spacing are generated as a function of load or thermal load of the electric motor or its control mechanism. The electric motor is controlled by the control pulse. A minimum and a maximum cycle duration is defined as a function of load or thermal load of the electric motor or its control mechanism.
