The device (1) has two pressing rollers (2, 3) i.e. suction pick-up rollers, that are supported on both sides at a machine frame and form a pressing gap (4) with each other, where the frame extends in a machine direction. Two middle axes (M2, M3) of the rollers extend transverse to the machine direction and are arranged parallel to each other in an use position (I) of the device. Support areas of one of the rollers are adjustable towards or opposite to the machine direction. The individual roller is reciprocally supported transverse to the machine direction by bearing and/or support devices.
