The method involves providing a metallic component (2) consisting of a sealing area with a rough surface. The sealing area is heat-treated in such a manner that the material of the metallic component is softened to a softening depth (8) which is larger than the roughness depth (4) of the rough surface of the sealing area. The metallic component is pressed with its sealing area against another metallic component (10) such that the material of the sealing area of the former metallic component is cold-twisted and a metallic sealing interconnection is formed. An independent claim is included for a metallic sealing interconnection with a transition area between two metallic components.
