The device (5) has operating surfaces provided over an operating parameter of a surgical microscope (2) and a phaco device (3). A memory provides a user-specific operating parameter. The surfaces are connected over a local network (4) and positioned at different places in and/or outside an operation theatre. Each operating surface is configured by the user-specific operating parameter. The surface has a data memory with a database for storing the user-specific operating parameter. A graphical user interface of the operating surface is disabled during a transmitting phase over a global dialog. An independent claim is also included for a method for central control of operating parameters of a surgical microscope and a phaco device.
