The machine (10) has mowing-and feeding devices (22, 32, 34) attached at a frame (12), which is movable in a forward direction (V) over a field. A spandrel area (58) is formed between the mowing-and feeding devices. Components of the machine interrupt the entry of a corn plant to the spandrel area. A guiding element (62) i.e. pipe, that encloses an obtuse angle with the forward direction extends over the width of the spandrel area. A horizontal plate (64) is provided rear side of the guiding element.
