The method involves receiving a sensor signal by an interface, where the sensor signal detects a traffic sign in surrounding area of a vehicle. Traffic sign information is determined based on the sensor signal, and a control signal is supplied corresponding to the traffic sign information, where the control signal controls a vehicle assisting system i.e. objects recognizing system. A classifier is managed by a control signal from storage to the vehicle assisting system, where the classifier is synchronized for a classification process. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a controlling device comprising a sensor signal receiving device (2) a computer program product with a program code that is stored in a machine-readable medium for performing a method for adapting a vehicle assisting system.
