The method involves transmitting a field by a mobile object, and partly receiving the field by multiple base stations (4,5). A channel of a radio network is determined as a positioning channel, on which the mobile object is transmitted in the radio network. A part of the base station intercepts the positioning channel. An independent claim is included for a device for computer-based localization of a mobile object.
