The seal has a casing-shaped area fixed on a shaft (10). A sealing element has a ring-shaped supporting element (4) to which a sealing rim (2) is attached. The rim is arranged in a direction of the shaft in a mounted condition. A ring-shaped running casing (30) is fixed concentrically on the casing-shaped area of a running surface element (20) and extends over the width of the rim. An outer surface of the casing forms a contact surface of the rim. The casing is glued or pressed on the running element and made of steel, stainless steel, high-strength plastic, aluminum or ceramic.
