The method involves determining pantographs (81,82,83,84) of railway vehicle with the help of measurement signal at stretching sensors. The axes of the passing railway vehicle are detected on the basis of the measured signal at one of the rails that are arranged in axis sensor. The two stretching sensors and their measuring signals determine the speed of the railway vehicle.
