The wire saw (1) has a core (2) with filaments (6) that are twisted with each other. A resin layer (3) encloses the core, and another resin layer (5) encloses the former resin layer. An abrasive body (4) is located on the latter resin layer. A circumference ring of cross section of the filaments has a diameter that is greater than or equal to 0.20 mm and smaller than or equal to 0.40 mm. A surface is enclosed by contour lines of the cross section of the filaments and the circumference ring of the cross section of the filaments.
