The concentrator has a radiation bounded mirror reflector directing radiation on an absorber. A beam forming unit is arranged between the mirror reflector and the absorber, where the beam forming unit uniformly distributes the radiation on a radiation surface of the absorber. The beam forming unit includes a hollow pyramid frustum that is opened parallel at larger and small front surfaces, where the small front surface is turned towards the absorber. The hollow pyramid frustum includes taper-shaped flat side walls that are externally provided with a cooling device.
