The LCD has a screened arrangement of oppositely polarized pixels over which representation of two stereoscopic fields takes place according to polarization multiplexing process. Operational principle-conditioned self-polarization of twisted nematic cells is utilizable for coding the stereoscopic fields. A light is polarized by a polarizer (A) and passes an analyzer (C), when a close lying voltage rotates in a polarization direction in a liquid crystal (B). The light is blocked by the analyzer, when the non-close lying voltage passes the liquid crystal in an uninfluenced manner.
