The method for welding a metal component (4) with a metallic base material (2) comprises moving the component against the base material by component holders (3), subjecting with a welding voltage, removing from the base material to a predetermined elevation by the component holder for igniting light arc, and then subsequently again pressing against the base material. The removing step takes place by a lifting device (1) connected with the component holder, and the lifting movement of the component holder is limited by an impact, which is adjusted over a motor drive (6). The method for welding a metal component (4) with a metallic base material (2) comprises moving the component against the base material by component holders (3), subjecting with a welding voltage, removing from the base material to a predetermined elevation by the component holder for igniting light arc, and then subsequently again pressing against the base material. The removing step takes place by a lifting device (1) connected with the component holder, and the lifting movement of the component holder is limited by an impact, which is adjusted over a motor drive (6) for adjusting the elevation. An anchor fixed at the component holder is pulled in an electrical lifting magnet for lifting the component holder. The anchor rests on the impact as an impact element. The component holder is removed from the base material and subsequently pressed against the base material by a return spring and is guided into a mechanical guide. The motor drive is actuated for adjusting a position of the impact depending on a position of the component holder. The position of the impact is adjusted depending on a geometric dimension of the component such as the length of the bolts. The adjustment of the position of the impact is carried out before or during the welding process. An independent claim is included for a device for welding a metal component with a metallic base material.
