The fabric piece (1) has an in-knitted recess (4) ending within a region of a base knitted fabric (3). The recess begins within a region of a knitted trim (2) and extends in the height by a part of the knitted trim and a part of the base knitted fabric. A knitting linkage of the recess is adapted in the region of the knitted trim in optics and elasticity characteristics of a knitting linkage of the knitted trim. The recess is knitted in the region of the knitted trim and in the region of the base knitted fabric in different kinds of the knitting linkages. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing knitted fabric pieces with an in-knitted recess.
