The device has a data processor controlled processing unit provided with a three dimensional (3D)-storage unit, reconstruction unit (REK) and an image processing unit (BEE). Two-dimensional projections of raw projection data (RPD) are intermediately stored in a three-dimensional data structure in the 3D-storage unit during data processing. An isotropic volume is formed after the data processing by a partial module for the projections. Voxel image data is stored in the 3D-storage unit as 3D-volume image and visualized by the image processing unit directly as the 3D-volume image. An independent claim is also included for a method for reconstructing and visualizing projection data.
