The encoder (1) has a front side at which magnetic angle sensors are fixedly arranged on a rotational axis. The encoder is made of plastic-bonded anisotropic hard ferrite and exhibits a magnetic direction (5) that runs in a curved direction from one half (2) to another half (3) of the front side pointed to the sensors. The encoder exhibits a flat disk- or ring shape and outer dimensions between 10 and 30 mm and height of 1.5 to 6 mm. The encoder is manufactured by an injection molding process. The direction is provided by a permanent magnet (7) attached in an injection molding tool. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a magnetic rotary encoder.
