The hydromechanical support device comprises a hydraulic system which has a preselection valve (33) which is upstream the hydraulic cylinders (1). The hydraulic cylinders increase the support lengths during a switch position of the preselection valve and with the control of the directional valve (23) assigned to the hydraulic cylinders. The support length is decreased during another switch position of the preselection valve.
