The device has a hob plate (10) and four cooking zones (12, 14, 16, 18) with heating elements. A hob chamber is provided for mounting the hob plate and the heating elements. A controlling and/or regulating unit (26) is arranged outside the hob chamber. An operating unit (34) is integrated into a hob component (32). The operating unit is coupled with the controlling and/or regulating unit by a material line. The operating unit has functional fields (38, 40, 42, 44) provided for coupling with removable operating elements (46, 48, 50, 52).
