The method involves forming a virtual network address (vMACa) from access nodes (AN) e.g. digital subscriber line multiplexer-demultiplexer, according to a given algorithm (vMAIg), and assigning end nodes (TEa-TEz) to network addresses (MACa-MACz). The virtual network address is formed from service nodes (SN) according to an algorithm (vMAIg') to transmit a message directed to an end point to the access nodes. The virtual network address is converted into the corresponding network address by a transfer function (IWF) to transmit the message directed to the end point.
