The system has a ROM provided for storing three different sub-criteria for signals of multiple sensors, where the sub-criteria evaluate the signals of the sensors. Three different combinations are selectable from the sub-criteria in dependence of different vehicle versions. Each combination represents an impact criterion which is fulfilled, when all sub-criteria belonging to the impact criterion are fulfilled. An activation signal is releasable, when the impact criterion is fulfilled.
