The method involves providing partially or completely the power required to ensure the minimum speed by an electric machine in some operating conditions. The electric machine is rotationally coupled with an internal combustion engine permanently. The power required to ensure the minimum speed by the electric machine is provided in an operating condition, in which the internal combustion engine is not fired. The fuel supply to the internal combustion engine is prevented in an overrun phase. An independent claim is included for a hybrid vehicle with an internal combustion engine having a crank shaft.
