The sensor (100) has a position cavity (150) with a sensor conductor structure (151) i.e. sensor coil, and a position indicator (110) with an indicator structure (111). The indicator structure is detachably moved corresponding to a preset movement path (101) relative to the conductor structure in a contact-less manner. The conductor structure has varied characteristics in dependent of a position along the path to produce position-dependent electrical characteristics of a sensor conductor coil. A connection structure (160) for supply of control signals is provided to the conductor structure. An independent claim is also included for a method for position determination of a sensor conductor structure relative to a position indicator.
