The method involves dividing a freely programmable display area (1) i.e. LCD, into five display regions (11-15), where the first display region contains close range information e.g. vehicle speed, relevant for actual handling of a driver of a motor vehicle. The second and third display regions are respectively comprised of actual vehicle status and remote range information, which are relevant for future handling of the driver. The second and third display regions are indicated within a display area below and above the first display region, respectively.
