Fabric screening against effects of ultraviolet light, used for e.g. clothing, shading and outdoor applications, includes titanium dioxide and multi-channel fibers

The fabric has functional warp- and/or weft threads. A first functional thread contains titanium dioxide or multi-channel fibers. A second functional thread is used. This contains a maximum of TiO2 added into the spin melt. The thread used has a special, extruded cross section. An example is illustrated in the disclosure. This is seen to have a generally strip-shaped profile with a large central lobe attached to two smaller side lobes. The fabric sheet has a UV protection factor of 200 or more, in accordance with DIN EN 13758. The fabric warp density is 20-140 threads/cm. The weft density is 10-80 threads/cm. The thread size is 22-1100 dtex. The weave structure is canvas, body, satin, their derivatives or combinations. A shaft-woven or Jacquard fabric is produced. Functional threads such as matted polyester or multi-channel fibers are used. Cotton wool, viscose, polyamide or their mixtures are included. The fabric is optionally treated by: washing and drying, fixing, finishing, dyeing, abrading and/or calendering.
