The unit has a deflection element i.e. rope pulley (2), for deflecting a flexible traction unit of a motor vehicle window lifter, and a safety component for securing a positioning of the traction unit at the deflection element. The deflection element is supported at a supporting area of a bracket (A), and the traction unit is guided in a guiding area of the deflection element that is covered by the safety component in sections. The safety component is designed as an attachment (4) that is mounted at the bracket while the deflection element is supported in the supporting area of the bracket.
