The radiator crossbeam (1) has a receiving area (4) formed for coupling with a projection of a radiator. An intermediate piece (5) ensuring a fixing of the projection at the radiator crossbeam is arranged between the receiving area and the projection. The strength value and geometry of the intermediate piece is so selected that a decoupling of the projection from the receiving area takes place instead of damage at the radiator or the radiator crossbeam during a crash of the motor vehicle.
