The system has an X-ray source (14) providing X-ray bundles (16a, 16b) in operation, and a shielding device (20) passed into different adjusting conditions. The device shields a solid angle portion of the X-ray bundles based on the adjusting conditions, and light sources (32a, 32b) are coupled with adjusting units i.e. servomotors (24a, 24b), of the shielding device and/or detecting units associated with the shielding device. The light sources dispense light towards a patient table (12) in a light pattern based on the adjusting conditions of the shielding device. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an adjusting condition of a shielding device.
