The device (100) has a transport system (110) for supplying a component support (115) into a placement region and for removing the support from the region. An assembly head (142) collects electronic components (146) from a loading device (160) and fits the electronic components on the support. A safety device (185) allows manual operator intervention in the region, and is designed such that the assembly head is deactivated in an activated condition. The support is transported through the placement region without assembling electronic components through the assembly head. An independent claim is also included for a method for performing a manual operator intervention in an assembling device.
