The method involves determining a pressure signal of fluid present in a base tank (1) using a pressure sensor (15). Water is filled in a drum (2) in a rinsing phase associated to a washing phase. The hydrostatic pressure of the water is measured by the pressure sensor depending on the time in a period of rinsing phase, in which the drum is rotated. The measured temporal pressure characteristic is evaluated with respect to number and/or duration of time of rinsing phases and/or whole amount of water filled in the rinsing phase. An independent claim is also included for a drum washing machine comprising a program control.
