The method involves manufacturing an eyeglass lens blank holder (56) by unit-wise arrangement of a material such that a contact surface (60) of the eyeglass lens blank holder has a shape that is adapted to a surface (64) of an eyeglass lens blank (40). The eyeglass lens blank is arranged at the contact surface of the eyeglass lens blank holder. Free surface of the eyeglass lens blank is processed, where the free surface of the eyeglass lens blank corresponds to a predetermined surface. The eyeglass lens blank is inserted into an eyeglass lens holder. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for manufacturing an eyeglass lens blank (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for manufacturing the eyeglass lens blank.
