The element has switch towers (10a-10c) arranged at a printed circuit board (2). A disk or cylinder shaped actuating element (1) is rotatably mounted in a mounting block (3) by a mounting shaft (4). The shaft or a support element (11), which is connected with the shaft, is supported on the towers. The actuating element includes switch arms, which are pivotable by rotationally actuating the actuating element. A catch (12) is formed at the shaft. A plastic or metal plate and/or a plastic or metal coating is provided on an upper side of the towers.
