The device has turbochargers (12, 14) connected in series, where the turbochargers include turbines (16, 26) engaged behind each other in an exhaust gas line (28). One of the turbines is short-circuitable with an exhaust throttle flap (32) over a by-pass line (30). A compressor (22) of one of the turbochargers is bypassed over another bypass line (46). An air circulation line (50) is provided between load pressure lines (34, 36). A blow-off valve (52) is controlled depending on defined operating conditions of an internal-combustion engine (10).
