The system has a magnet device moved relative to a mechanically deflectable measuring wire (1) i.e. wave guide. The wire experiences deflection by effect of a current pulse (3) processed by signaling devices (5). A damping part (8) resting against an open end (6) of the wire has a tube shaped-damping member i.e. silicone rubber hose, clamped with the wire by a lining. The lining is deformed from a widened starting condition to a narrowed functional condition. The lining is attached to the member in the starting condition, and exerts clamping force on the member in the functional condition.
