The arrangement has a single-phase transformer with an input winding (4) and output windings (7-10), where the output windings are switchable in series with each other over a set of switches (11-14) and are bypassed over another set of switches (18-21). A controller (30) controls actuation of the sets of switches, and terminals of the input windings are connected with each other by a cable for forming a series circuit. Terminals of the output windings are directly connected to form a parallel circuit or connected to a line section (1) over a switch (26).
